I had been waiting for this story to come out for some time now and when I saw it released in digital format from Cemetery Dance, I was thrilled. Ursa Major by John R. Little was good, but not Little’s best work. Now, the story is set up in a way that the action starts right off the bat. This part was awesome. I love stories that just “take off”, if you will, but as the story progressed I wanted more from it. I have read his other works, like MIRANDA, and it felt solid and satisfying. Ursa Major, sadly, did not sate my hunger.
Was it an overall good read? Yes.
Did it entertain? Yes.
Did it leave you wanting more? Oh hell yes!
It is a story about a man taking his soon to be step daughter out for an Alaskan camping trip. A monstrous grizzly bear traps them in the cabin and they struggle to go home.
That’s it in a nut shell.
But I say buy it and read it because it is quality work. I just wish the story of the “Evil presence” was better portrayed. Pick it up here.
